The ex-Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams has said that teachers ought to be able to wear the niquab face veil in primary schools.
His pronouncement reminded me of a quote I recently read which argued that the two most abundant substances in the universe were hydrogen and stupidity and Williams was not talking of gases. To hear a teacher talking from behind a veil is no different from her talking from behind a curtain and what sort of teaching is that?
Now if you were to ask me about the suitability of Williams wearing a niquab......
