Gender equality in athletics?
Further to my last blog, anybody watching the World Athletics Championship will have noticed the problem in women's athletics regarding the status of some competitors. One gold medal winner was reported as having three times as much testosterone in her blood than the average woman, confirmation of her overtly masculine appearance. Now it's not this lady's fault. I'm sure that bodily she functions as a female of the species but her high levels of masculine hormone must give her an advantage. That the governing body thinks this unfair is suggested by their idea of asking such athletes to take testosterone reducing drugs, making a mockery of the anti-drug culture they wish to promote.
